Understanding the cause, not just managing the behaviour
Problem-solving sessions are designed for horses and riders who feel stuck, unsafe or frustrated, and want to understand why an issue is happening rather than simply suppressing it.
Rather than applying quick fixes, I work with you to identify the underlying factors contributing to a problem, whether those are mental, physical, environmental or related to timing and communication.
Sessions may involve groundwork, ridden work, or a combination of both, always guided by what is appropriate and safe on the day.
Common areas I’m asked to help with include:
Loading and travelling
Mounting issues
Tension, resistance or inconsistent responses
Loss of confidence in horse or rider
Anxiety, reactivity or shutdown behaviour
Horses that feel difficult to manage or unpredictable
Ground manners
The focus is on improving clarity, reducing tension and giving both horse and rider tools to move forward with more confidence and understanding.
How these sessions work
Problem-solving sessions are typically one-to-one and tailored to the individual horse and rider. Owners and riders are actively involved throughout, ensuring the work can be continued safely and consistently between sessions.
Not every issue can or should be pushed through in a single visit. Where appropriate, I’ll help you decide on sensible next steps, whether that’s further training, management changes, or involving other professionals.
Important to know
All work is freelance and carried out at your own yard.
I don’t take horses in for training.
